The most important first step in recovering a debt is to have a lawyer-approved letter of demand prepared and sent which includes a set date for payment. So that’s what we do for you first after receiving payment of our low fixed fee and information about the debt necessary for the letter of demand.
After that letter is sent and a reasonable amount of time has passed without payment, we’ll call the debtor to seek payment.
There is no guarantee that your debtor will pay immediately. However, a legal letter of demand will often provide strong motivation for someone to pay. It also demonstrates that you are serious about recovering the money and prepares you to take further steps if necessary.
If you don’t receive payment as a result of the letter of demand or phone call, we will provide you with your best options for further pursuing your money.
What does it cost?
CGCollect is designed to be affordable for the recovery of relatively small debts up to $50,000. Our modest fixed fee for a once off debt is $200 + GST.
Where a business may have more than one debt to collect we offer a sliding scale discount for volume jobs. Our scale is provided below. We recommend you contact us direct if you have multiple debts to pursue.
- 0 – 9 debts: $220 inc GST
- 10 – 24 debts: $165 inc GST
- 25 – 49 debts: $110 inc GST
- 50+ debts: $55 inc GST
These discounted rates can be provided where we take on a bundle of debts at one time or, subject to discussion with us, may apply where a volume of debts is pursued for you over the course of a 12 month period.
Amounts above $50,000 are not suitable for the CGCollect service so if the debt you want to recover is more than $50,000, we’ll refer you to the Litigation section of our parent firm, Clifford Gouldson Lawyers.

How do I pay?
Payment is required at the time of requesting the letter of demand. Our system will request payment when you complete the online instruction form.
Is this a no win, no fee service?
No, CGCollect does not offer a no win, no fee service.
Is this a commission based service?
No, we are a law firm not a commercial debt recovery company. We therefore charge for work done rather than on a commission basis.
When am I entitled to a refund?
You will be entitled to a full refund if we are ethically prevented from acting for you due to a conflict of interest or duty.
Once you’ve completed our online instruction form and entered your credit card details in payment of our fixed fee, we’ll contact you within 24 hours, or the next business day, to confirm whether we can act for you and the next steps.
